Free Harvard Resume Template [PDF Export]
Timeless Harvard-style layout — centered serif header, small-caps section titles with a rule, institution-bold / date-right hierarchy. Equally at home as a professional résumé or a full academic CV.
An ATS-friendly resume template is a single-column (or carefully structured) layout with standard headings, real text instead of images, and no tables that scramble parsers such as Workday, Greenhouse, and Lever. Free includes 1 resume, a watermark-free PDF, and a standard portfolio. Pro unlocks unlimited resumes, unlimited ATS scoring, cover letters, academic CVs, and Pro portfolio themes.
Who it is for. Consulting, finance, law, government, and early-career candidates who need a conservative HBS-style one-pager.
ATS notes. Single-column, standard headings, real text — a strong default for Workday, Greenhouse, and Lever.
When not to use it. Do not use it when a market expects a headshot, or when you need a dense two-column creative layout.

Harvard University career centers and peer institutions have long recommended a conservative résumé format: one column, reverse-chronological experience, clear section labels, and bullets that start with strong action verbs. The Harvard Classic template on FreeResume.me encodes those structural rules — centered serif name block, small-caps section titles with a horizontal rule, institution names in bold with dates right-aligned — without decorative elements that break ATS parsers.
For undergraduates and recent graduates, Harvard-style guidance often places Education near the top when it is your strongest credential. Lead with degree, institution, GPA if above 3.5, relevant coursework, and honors. Experience and leadership follow, each bullet beginning with a verb (Led, Built, Analyzed) and ending with a measurable outcome where possible. Keep to one page unless you have 10+ years of relevant work — admissions and early-career recruiters expect brevity.
Harvard-format résumés avoid photos, graphics, and multi-column grids. Applicant tracking systems read top-to-bottom; this template keeps Summary, Experience, Education, and Skills in a predictable order using semantic text, not tables.
