What the HBS resume book actually is

Experience follows in reverse-chronological order with company, role, location, and dates right-aligned. Each role gets 3–5 bullets starting with past-tense action verbs — Led, Built, Analyzed, Negotiated — and ending with a quantified outcome. Additional closes the page: leadership roles, technical skills, languages, and one line of genuine interests that start interview conversations. Keep company names bold on the left and dates flush right so the eye tracks tenure instantly down the page without hunting through clutter.

Fonts, margins, and spacing specs

HBS-style resumes use conservative serif typography — Garamond or Times New Roman at 10.5–11pt — with bold small-caps section headings separated by a thin horizontal rule. Margins sit at 0.7 inches, line spacing at 1.0–1.15, and bullets use standard round or dash markers, never icons or charts.

White space is deliberate, not empty. Recruiters scan in an F-pattern: name, then left-edge job titles, then numbers at bullet ends. Common HBS format mistakes
