How to List Skills on a Resume (ATS-Friendly, No Skill Bars)

Put skills where parsers look
A dedicated Skills section with standard heading is the safest. You can also repeat two critical tools in the summary and in the most recent job. That is emphasis, not stuffing, if the work is real.
Place Skills near the top for career changers and students; below experience for people with strong job history.
Match the employer’s spelling
If they wrote “JS,” you may still write JavaScript and JS once. If they wrote “Google Analytics 4,” do not only write “GA.” Aliases help, exact strings help more.
Drop tools you last touched in 2014 unless the posting is about that era of stack.
Licenses are skills too
Nursing licenses, CDL class, security clearances, SHRM-CP, CPA — these belong in Skills or a Certifications section with IDs where customary. They are high-signal ATS terms.

Should I use skill bars?
No. Parsers do not read the bar. Humans find them childish. Use words.
How many skills?
About 8–16 distinctive tools. A dump of 40 is a confession you did not edit.
Soft skills?
Prove them in bullets. A Skills line full of “leadership” wastes the ATS keywords slot.
